Kaga Yuzen is a type of Yuzen dyeing that is mainly produced in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Yuzen dyeing" uses glue to prevent the fabric from being dyed and to create patterns, and Kaga Yuzen and Kyoto's Kyo Yuzen are famous examples.
Together with Tokyo's Edo Yuzen, they are sometimes called "Japan's Three Great Yuzens."
Characteristics of Kaga Yuzen The most distinctive feature is the realistically drawn floral patterns.
In terms of technique, for example, the outside of the flower is dyed darker and the center is dyed lighter, creating a "bokeshi" effect.
"Three-color blur" expresses the appearance of a single leaf as it withers and turns red using three colors.
The patterns have a three-dimensional and realistic feel, with techniques such as "insect holes" deliberately drawn on the leaves to show the marks of insect bites.
The color scheme is based on the five colors known as the "Kaga Five Colors": indigo, crimson, ochre, grass green, and ancient purple.
I think it has a gorgeousness that is different from Nishijin-ori and is wonderful. I would love to own one.
Well, see you next time.
